Volunteering is a great way to gain new skills, meet new people and give back to your local community.
The Territory Wildlife Park acknowledges that our volunteers are a vital component of our social, environmental and cultural well-being and are integral in establishing a community atmosphere at the Park.
Volunteer Placements
If you are able to offer a minimum of 5 days (either in a block or as a regular commitment of 1 day perweek/fortnight) you are welcome to submit an expression of interest for a volunteer placement in the following areas:
Zookeeping
Zookeeping volunteers assist with caring for animals and their environments.
Duties may include, exhibit design and maintenance, food preparation (including the collection of native food), assistance with veterinary care, record keeping and animal observations, animal capture and restraint, weighing and general health care. There are five zoo keeping sections where volunteers may be placed – Aquarium, Nocturnal House, Monsoon Forest and the Animal Services (includes Hospital & Quarantine, Endangered Species Conservation Unit, Live Food Unit).

Community Engagement
Community Engagement volunteers at TWP assist with preparation and presentation of educational activities for school and university groups.
Activities may include biodiversity surveys, horticulture activities such as seed collection and propagation of native plants for on-site use, or land management based projects such as revegetation projects and weed control.

Technical Services
Technical Services volunteers assist with land management duties including weed control and ground maintenance.

Visitor Services
Visitor Services volunteers assist our guides with meeting and greeting visitors, promoting the park and the Northern Territory to tourists and assisting with presentation of public talks and displays.

Administration volunteers assist with administrative tasks to provide office support to management and other staff, including courier duties.
