At the Billabong exhibit a raised walkway weaves through an Acacia and Pandanus wet woodland habitat and out to a viewing platform over the lagoon. In the rainy season this lagoon swells flooding the surrounding area.
A small number of pelicans live here permanently but as this is an open area a number of wild animals regularly visit this permanent water supply.
It is not uncommon to see water monitors, fresh water crocodiles, wallabies, cormorants, pelicans and even Jabiru here.
Look into the water and search for 4 species of freshwater turtle, tarpon and catfish.
